Rheumatism and Cassava

Rheumatism is a disease that attacks the joints and surrounding tissue structures (tendons ligaments, synovial, muscles, joints, and bones). The disease is not limited to attack the joints can also on other organs. Revealed symptoms that usually painful or stiff joints, sometimes accompanied by swelling and redness, waist or neck stiffness, joint movement becomes limited, painful motion of joints, and muscle pain. In systemic rheumatic diseases is usually accompanied by symptoms: fever, weakness, shortness of body swollen, sore eyes.

Rheumatic diseases can be treated with cassava plants. According to a medicinal plant expert, Prof. Hembing Wijayakusuma, pharmacological effects of cassava is as an antioxidant, anticancer, antitumor, and increase appetite. Common part used in this plant is the leaves and tubers.

Cassava tubers in calories, protein, fat, carbohydrate, calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamin B and C, and starch. The leaves contain vitamins A, B1 and C, calcium, calories, forfor, protein, fat, carbohydrate, and iron. While the bark, contains tannin, peroxidase, glycosides, and calcium oxalate.

Aside from being a food crop cassava has many benefits as a drug. Among other rheumatic drugs, headache, fever, wounds, diarrhea, intestinal worms, dysentery, night blindness, and can increase stamina.

Overcoming arthritis can be done with the use of inner and external use. For external use only required 5 pieces of cassava leaf, 15 grams of red ginger, and enough whiting. Materials are crushed and water added to taste. After stirring, herbs smeared on the body of the sick.

While the use of the required 100 grams of cassava stems, 1 stalk lemongrass, and 15 grams of ginger. Ingredients are boiled with water 1.000 cc until the remaining  400 cc. Then, the water is filtered and drunk as much as 200 cc. Do twice a day.
