Hibiscus rosa sinensis, the plant lowering children fever

Hibiscus rosa sinensis is a beautiful flowering shrub plants commonly planted as an ornamental plant. These plants include Malvaceae tribe originating from East Asia and then spread to tropical and sub tropical. In the tropics, this plant can bloom throughout the year, while in sub-tropical regions only in the spring until autumn.

Hibiscus rosa sinensis, or better known as "Kembang Sepatu" by the people of Indonesia, has a round rod, hard, woody with a diameter of 9 cm, can grow to a height of up to 4 feet. This plant has a single egg-shaped leaves with pointed tip, serrated leaf edge, the length of 10-16 cm, wide 5 -11 cm, and green.

Trumpet-shaped flowers with a diameter of about 5 cm. to 20 cm consists of 5 pieces of leaf sheath that is protected by additional petals so it looks like two layers of petals. Crown flower consists of 5 pieces. These plants flower crown color depending on the type, there is a white, pink, and red. Besides having a beautiful flower, Hibiscus rosa sinensis was to have a property to overcome health problems, such as treating fever in children, cough, thrush, and the launch period. The leaves, flowers and roots of this plant contain flavonoida. In addition, the leaves also contain saponins, and polyphenols, flowers containing polyphenols, roots contain tannins, saponins, scopoletin, cleomiscosin A, and cleomiscosin C.

Scientifically known behind the sweet taste and neutralizing properties, this plant has a variety of pharmacological effects of them as anti-inflammatory, antiviral, diuretic, expectorant, and normalize the menstrual cycle.

For treatment of fever, hibiscus rosa sinensis root finely ground, then boiled in boiling water for about half an hour, then filtered water and then drunk.
