How to plant ginger


After reading my previous article, you may want to try to cultivate this herb plants. Why not? Rather than your backyard or vacant land you better be utilized. But there are some requirements of these plants you should know.

First, climate
Ginger plants require relatively high rainfall, which is between 2500-4000 mm / year.
At age 2.5 to 7 months or more, ginger plants require sunlight.Thus, the cultivation of ginger should be done in an open place that gets sun all day.
The temperature optimum for cultivation of ginger between 20-35 degrees Celsius.

Second, Growing Media
Ginger plants most suitable to be planted in fertile soil, loose and many contain humus.
A good soil texture is sandy loam, sandy clay and soil laterik.
Ginger plants can be grown on soil acidity (pH) of approximately 4.3 to 7.4. However, soil acidity (pH) is optimum for elephant ginger from 6.8 to 7.0.

Third, Altitude Venue
This herb plants can be grown in tropical and subtropical regions with an altitude of 0-2000 m above sea level. But in general in Indonesia are planted at an altitude of 200-600 m above sea level.

Parts of plants are grown ginger rhizome pieces that already have buds. Pieces of rhizome is planted into the ground as deep as 5-7 cm with the shoots facing upwards. Do not be reversed, because it can inhibit growth.
Once planted, the next step is to provide fertilizer. In addition, for planting ginger is required suitable land for growth. On land with a low pH can be given agricultural or dolomite lime to raise soil pH.
